I work on getting AI systems from research into production — specifically in regulated environments, where a model has to survive an audit, an adversarial user, and a compliance review before it survives contact with customers.
That constraint changes the engineering. Transparent, auditable AI is the difference between a demo and a deployed system, and most of the hard problems live there rather than in model capability.
What I write about
Most writing about AI is either research-adjacent or vendor marketing. Very little of it addresses what actually happens between a promising proof of concept and a system running in production. That's the gap:
- Agentic AI — architecture, failure modes, and where autonomy stops being worth it
- LLM operationalization: RAG, human-in-the-loop review, and the evaluation problem nobody solves cleanly
- AI governance and MLOps: auditability, traceability, and what compliance actually demands
- The economics: what these systems cost to run, and which decisions you regret at scale

Where this comes from
I've built and led AI platforms in fintech, healthcare, and telecommunications, industries where innovation has to coexist with regulation. Most recently, as CTO and technical co-founder of a fintech platform company, I architected a patent-pending agentic risk-assessment system built on LLMs with RAG and human-in-the-loop review (USPTO App. No. 19/392,303, published as US 2026/0141329 A1).
Before that, I led science-engineering for Alexa Ranking & Arbitration at Amazon, where my teams built the distributed ML platform behind Alexa's science modeling. Earlier work included NLP for computer-assisted clinical coding in healthcare and telecom platforms handling billions of monthly transactions.
I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, with published research in NLP and computer vision. I advise founders and academic programs, including serving on the advisory board of the Strategic Artificial Intelligence Program at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
